Winter has arrived, but things are heating up at the garden! We’ve had an incredible month filled with new members, funding wins, winter planting, and exciting next steps. Here’s what’s growing at Golden Beach Community Garden.
🌱 Garden Updates
🪴 Winter Beds Planted
Our newly filled garden beds will soon be brimming with winter veggies like broccoli and cauliflower. Thank you to the Planning Team for coordinating our seasonal planting!
🧱 Soil, Sugar Cane & Mulch Delivered
Thank you to Elliot for delivering much-needed soil, mulch and sugar cane mulch. More is on the way!
🌼 Fertilising Made Easy
Whiteboard have been installed in the shed to help communicate tasks like watering and fertilising. Plus, we’re stocked with Nutri-Tech fertiliser.
🌱 Plant Planning Underway
Kath is investigating suitable rootstocks for future fruit tree plantings. Funding has been approved to purchase seedlings to get an 8-week head start for spring!
💧 Facilities & Infrastructure
🛠️ Shed Repairs
A break-in attempt was reported. Thankfully, no major damage occurred, and Keith repaired the shed. Thanks, Keith!
🧂 Crusher Dust Approved
We’ve approved funds to begin laying crusher dust in the shade house—a big step forward in creating more usable space.
🛑 Bus Shelter Offer Declined
While generous, we’ve decided not to accept the offer of a bus shelter from the Bowls Club due to space and setup challenges.
💰 Grants & Funding
🎉 $3,000 SCC Grant Received!

- Gambling Community Grant (open 9 June)
- Bendigo Bank (application complete, awaiting visit from Pip!)

👥 Membership Update
- 60 paid members for 2024/25
- 22 paid members already for 2025/26
- Facebook Group: 658 members (up by 25!)
- 5 new members this month
- 17 renewal invoices paid
