1
Who can join?
Everyone is welcome! Whether you are a seasoned gardener or a curious beginner, we’d love to have you. The garden is open to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
2
What can I grow in the garden?
From leafy greens to colourful companion flowers, the sky is the limit! Member work together in communal beds and can also lease personal plots. We encourage organic practices to keep our garden eco-friendly and sustainable
3
How do I get involved in the garden’s activities?
We meet at the garden each Thursday morning for Thyme Out, our working bee day, where we maintain our beautiful garden togethers. And after the hard, hot work, we sit and have a natter about gardening, and a long cold drink of water.
We also meet each Sunday mornings for Under the Trees, which is more of a chitchat morning. Although some members love to potter in the garden on this morning also.
Of course, you can go to the garden whenever you feel you need to potter around or a zen place to chill. It is always open and you are always welcome!

9

Please only pick from communal beds. There will be a sign in the individually leased beds, asking to not pick from them
10
Are there workshops or events?

Individual plots/beds
Want to grow your own produce at our garden?
11
How to lease a garden bed?
Contact the exec team to request to rent a bed via email to goldenbeachcommunitygarden@gmail.com. There is a yearly fee to lease one of our individual garden beds, with an option for extending for a second year.
12
What happens if you buy a bed?
You are responsible for the items that you grow inside. We will place sign in the garden to say that it is privately owned and to please not take from this garden, however if someone were to take your produce, there is no recourse.
13
Are there any restrictions?
Yes, our garden is pesticide free
We use organic gardening practices to ensure the health and safety of gardeners and visitors, and to avoid environmental contamination. Organic gardening techniques avoid the use of synthetic chemical fertilisers, pesticides, and herbicides.
14
What happens if I forget about my bed or don’t have time to look after it?
If a plot is neglected and if no arrangement is agreed with the Committee, the plot will be forfeited after 12 weeks of neglect.
Our team will monitor individual plots to ensure all beds are being looked after. The exec team will attempt to contact you. If the bed is forfeited, the team will include the bed in the next working bee to maintain it, and will mark it as available for rent again.
15
What else do I need to do to rent a bed?
As a member of GBCG, it is expected that those who lease an allocated bed will also be actively contributing to the establishment and maintenance of the shared garden areas and infrastructure.
16
Any other inclusions?
As a plot holder, you will also have access to any/all of the gardening equipment you might need. E.g. soil, mulch, string, gardening tools; as well as access to finished compost made at the garden (to use on the bed) and a hose for any additional watering required.
Other Questions
1
What will happen to the garden if the volunteers all quit?
As the garden is a leased tenure from the Sunshine Coast council, if we were to neglect the garden, the SCC will take back the leased land and will remove all structures and beds.
2
Are children welcome?
Yes we love kids, our garden is a family-friendly space. Of course, children should be supervised at all times.
3
Are dogs welcome?
Absolutely! Westminster Park has an on leash area for doggos and our Garden welcomes all including your furry friends
9
How does the garden stay sustainable?
We’re big on eco-friendly practices! From composting to using rainwater tanks and drought-tolerant plants, we work to minimise our footprint while maximising our growth.
